Patrick Ledray’s The Dragon in the Christmas Tree Wins National Recognition

(Twin Cities, Minn.) - The Dragon in the Christmas Tree, written by Patrick W. Ledray of Brooklyn Park and illustrated by Kim Gordon of Minneapolis, has been awarded the silver medal in the category of holiday books by Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards.

The Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards contest is designed to honor the year’s best children’s books, authors and illustrators. The program is open to authors, illustrators, and publishers of children’s books written in English or Spanish and intended for the North American market.

This year's Moonbeam Awards medal ceremony will be held in conjunction with the 4th annual Traverse City Children’s Book Festival, to be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in Traverse City, Mich.

“Kim and I are delighted to have won and look forward to sharing Sparky’s story with kids throughout the Twin Cities during the upcoming holiday season,” said Ledray, who is a practicing attorney and the Honorary Consul of Romania for Minnesota. The legendary dragons of Romania’s Carpathian Mountains inspired his story.

The Dragon in the Christmas Tree was previously awarded a 2013 Midwest Booksellers Award for website design. Visit at www.RomanianDragons.com for more information. Sparky the Dragon is on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/RomanianDragons.
The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards are intended to bring increased recognition to exemplary children's books and their creators, and to support childhood literacy and life-long reading. The Awards recognize and reward the best of these books and bring them to the attention of parents, booksellers, librarians - and to children themselves."
